What exactly is a hair color correction?

I dyed my hair black and i love it but im bored i want a lighter shade. does color correction take you back to your original color? What exactly is a hair color correction?
A color correction can be classified as so many things! Probably the hardest Colors to get out are black and red. Especially if those colors are achieved with a box color. In your case I would assume your stylist can either use a color remover on your hair and that would just strip out all the artificial color in your hair and start over or depending on your hairs integrity maybe you guys can work up to a lighter color by highlighting and toner your hair. Good Luck!

Hair Color Correction?

Here's what happened: I dyed my medium brown hair with Feria's light golden brown in January. It really didn't do too much to my hair except add some orange/red to my hair, unevenly at that. So stupid me, I decided to dye it again the same color. Again, it did nothing except add some more orange/red to my hair. It lightened it some so after about a month, I decided to dye it again. I used Feria again, but went with the lightest golden blonde. I thought it would be smart to use the same base color so my hair wouldn't turn an ugly gray or green and it obviously added WAY too much orange again! Right away I went to the hairdresser who said highlights would work to fix the problem without dying the whole head over which it didn't. So now I have copper/ginger hair with yellow/gold highlights. I've already bought Clairols shimmering lights and it didn't work that well. I know I've been damaging my hair a lot so I've been doing a lot of olive oil, almond oil treatments and bought a protein conditioner and did an egg mask to try to rebuild my hair. I still have this color that needs to be fixed. Its been at least a month since the last color/highlights. My hair is still very frizzy when it dries out and HAS to have oil/gloss on it to make it smooth. I've been letting my hair air dry. Should I wait longer to fix it? Am I doing to many hair treatments? On a weekly schedule, I do 2 oil treatments, 2 protein masks (egg or protein conditioner) and 2 moisturizing treatments (moisturizing conditioner and cholestorol). If I can fix it now, should I dye it darker (although I really want lighter), use a toner (which I have innocent ivory born blonde toner with violet base - blue for the orange in my hair and purple for the yellow = violet) and born blonde isnt mixed with developer and has no ammonia or peroxide or bleach the whole head one last time to get what I ultimately want, blonde. What is the best way with the least damage? I just want a pretty color and after that only want to touch up my roots. Believe it or not, b4 this i haven't dyed my hair in over 2 years! It was all natural color.Hair Color Correction?
I think you should give your hair a break from coloring it. Coloring your hair now will cause damage and possibly breakage, wait until your hair is healthy again. I put color in my hair and wasnt't happy with the results. I used Paul Mitchell's Shampoo Two in my hair. I shampooed my hair with it everyday for a week and used a good conditioner each time. This helped a lot. You can also go to Sally's to see if they can guide you with color correction. I would hold off on all of those treatments. It's like they say, ';Too much of a good thing.';. I hope this helps. Good luck.Hair Color Correction?
I feel your pain, I did almost the same thing! One option you have is to go to the salon and have a demi/semi permanent dye done. It is not nearly as damaging to your hair as normal dye! Tt can't lighten your hair though...it only deposits color- does not lift it. If your hair is really porous from the damage, you may want to use protein filler (from Sally's ive heard) on your hair before getting it dyed to make sure the color sticks. Good luck!

Hair Color Correction?

I had my hair colored yesterday. I started out light brown and wanted to go to a light blonde. The colorist put a 20 bleach on my hair and then toned it. Long story short, it is way to blonde, I mean white blonde. Is there anyway to correct this at home and if so, should I do it today? I really don't want to wait. I want to be a darker blonde, can I just put a color on top on this one?Hair Color Correction?
did you show the colourist a pic or those colours in those books?

if you have, you can probably go back and ask them to redo for you.

or visit another colourist.

  • Hair color correction?

I have been dying my hair every 3-4 months for the last two years. Four months ago I dyed my hair black with the natural instincts by clairol. It says that it was suppose to wash out in about a month but it hasn't. I want to go to a professional to have my hair dyed back to my natural color which is a dark brown. Since the product I used was semi-permanent will they be able to just dye it brown or will they have to strip it? I want something that will be the least damaging to my hair. Any opinions?Hair color correction?
I know this sounds crazy, but....

when i dyed my hair black accidentally, i was told by a hair professional that dandruff shampoos strip the colour away - particularly 'head and shoulders'.

So i used it everyday and sure enough it fades! i used a PERMANENT colour but now my hair is back to light brown in less than 2months. otherwise yes the hairdresser would have to strip it.Hair color correction?
I'm thinking (without seeing your hair) what might have happened is that since you color your hair every 3-4 months, that your ends are porous and have grabbed the color.

They can get your hair back to what it was, but my guess is that they will have to lighten the ends, color the hair on the roots first, then the last 4-5 mins. put the color on the ends.

You should be doing touch-up color this way too, so your ends won't grab color in the future. And get all the porous ends trimmed off of your hair, or you'll most likely run into this problem again.

    Hope this helps you out!
just make sure u go to the new color step by step and cut off split ends. i cringe at split ends. i love my hair and i have dyed it sense i was in 3rd grade. have fun and hope it lookes good.
they should be able to dye it back
They might have to strip it if it is still really black.

    Hair coloring correction/?

tonight i died my hair deep burgundy brown/chocolate cherry from feria. my color before was dark brown but my roots came out really hot and the ends not so much. the ends just look black and there isnt much of a red glow to it. i am wondering if i should go back and get the 32 which was light auburn black, a step darker and maybe it would make it even?Hair coloring correction/?
yah go back and get one shade darker, and put it everywhere but MOSTLY on ur roots.Hair coloring correction/?
you should use a color removal system..and get all of it out first.

Would you wait for your hair to grow out or get a hair color correction?

Ok, so I highlighted my hair a significantly lighter color and of course it has faded and i HATE IT!!! I have very long hair and I CAN NOT stand to have short hair. My roots have grown out about 5-6 inches and it looks horrible. I want to get a color correction, its expensive, but personally I would pay it, but I'm getting a lot of ppl telling me to just wait for it to grow out... btw I am a very IMPATIENT person.

I've learnt my lesson... NEVER DYE YOUR HAIR!!! Unless your graying, then thats just grossWould you wait for your hair to grow out or get a hair color correction?
I would get you're roots done or whatever. But you should just do what you feel is right to do.Would you wait for your hair to grow out or get a hair color correction?
Spend the money-just be sure to go to a reputable shop.

Do I need hair color correction? If so, how much does it cost?

I just got my hair colored by a stylist who obviously had trouble understanding what I wanted when I walked into the salon and asked for a ';warm chocolate brown'; color. My hair is naturally an ashy medium brown. When she first dyed it, it turned out strawberry blond. When I told her that the color was not what I wanted and she put toner in it to get rid of the red, it turned a dark auburn. It is now a very very dark brown with a weird red tinge to it and it looks almost purple in some lights. I told her that I wanted her to fix it and she got an attitude with me, so I walked out. I called a hair stylist that I've known for awhile and whom I trust, but I don't know if I need color correction, if she needs to strip it, or if she can just use highlights or do another single process on top of what I have now. I want to go lighter. I want a chocolate brown color, but I don't want to have to spend $200 like some people have said I will. Any suggestions, info, or advice?Do I need hair color correction? I would go to the hair stylist that you've known for awhile, and maybe she'll be able to figure out what needs to be done. Good luck :(Do I need hair color correction? If so, how much does it cost?
i would call the stylest that you trust and ask them what they think. this happened with me last week. i went to get blonde and red put in my hair and it ended up blonde and pink. so i went back and just dyed it back brown. my hair is really dry now though, since all the chemicals. just call and ask! im sure he/she can tell you on the phone, or have you come in to see what they think about it.
ehh you can get a home kit and do it yourself or

have her bleach your hair and start over..
